Alma Dale Campbell Brown (52) was the previous global news partnership leader at Facebook and a former American television anchor.

Campbell Brown Bio: Age, Early Life, Parents

She was born on June 14, 1968 in Ferriday, Louisiana in U.S. Her parents are James Brown Jr and Dale Campbell Fairbanks. Her father James was a Louisiana Democratic Senator and Secretary of State. He once served a prison stint for lying to the F.B.I. during an investigation related to an insurance company. She has two sisters.

Brown attended the Trinity Episcopal School and the Madeira School. She was expelled from Madeira for going off campus at night to attend a party. She graduated from the Regis University in Denver with a degree in a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She spent a year immediately after college teaching English in Czechoslovakia.

Brown started her journalism career with news reporting for KSNT-TV, in Topeka, Kansas. She then worked for WWBT TV in Virginia and WBAL TV in Maryland.

Brown joined NBC News in 1996, where she covered the war in Kosovo and Brown was first assigned to cover President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial. She was also the White House correspondent for NBC News. She covered the 2000 American Presidential elections covering George Bush and the Republican party. She served as co-anchor of the NBC news program Weekend Today from 2003 to 2007. She left NBC in 2007 after eleven years and joined CNN in 2008. Brown started her CNN stint covering the 2008 elections with the prime time show “Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull”. She left CNN in 2010, due to low ratings for her show.

Brown, after leaving CNN, wrote opinion pieces for publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast and Slate.

In 2017, Brown joined Facebook, as the head of Global News Partnerships, Facebook’s news partnership team to combat allegations that Facebook was being used to peddle fake news and spread misinformation.

Brown won an Emmy Award as part of the NBC team reporting on Hurricane Katrina. Brown has also reported on the Iraqi elections, the situation at the Abu Ghraib prison and the trial of Saddam Hussein. She also travelled to Gaza and the West Bank to cover tensions between Israel and Palestine.

Since 2013 she has been an education reform and school choice activist and founded the “Parents Transparency Project” a group on behalf of parents seeking information and accountability from the teachers’ unions. Working with the New York Daily News she investigated and reported on sexual misconduct allegations on school employees. In June 2014, Brown founded the non-profit organization Partnership for Educational Justice. In July 2015, Brown co-founded The 74, a non-profit, news site covering education in America.

She serves on the boards of several organisations including Success Academy Charter Schools, Turnaround for Children, and the International Women’s Media Foundation.

She was married to Peregrine “Pere” Roberts in a Real Estate Broker. The couple divorced. In 2006, Brown married Daniel Samuel Senor, the former chief spokesperson for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq and advisor for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign. The couple met in 2004, while Brown was covering the daily news conferences held by the Coalition. Brown converted to Judaism, upon getting married to Senor.

She has two sons, Eli James Senor born December 18th, 2007 and Asher Liam Senor born April 6th, 2009. She lives in New York.
