Subsequently, she served as Resident Tutor, History, and Post-Soviet Studies at Harvard. Her tenure as a resident tutor was from July 1992 to June 1998. A year later from her folding as a tutor, she worked as Assistant to International Office at Durham County Council in Durham, England, for one year. She joined the Trump administration in 2017 as a Russian advisor for which she took a leave of absence from the Brookings Institution.

Fiona is currently a former Senior Fellow of Foreign Policy – Center on the United States & Europe at The Brookings. She started her work as a senior fellow at Brookings at the beginning of this year. Before her current work, Fiona was National Security Council at White House and until last year she served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Europe and Russia. In July 2019, she resigned from her post as Senior Director for Europe and Russia.
