Kyle Larson Career Details
Kyle got behind his first racing vehicle at the tender age of 8 and took part in outlaw karts in the year 2000. By the time he was a teenage he was taking part in lots of competitions driving open wheel karts and sprint cars.
By 2011, Kyle had won his first race at Placerville speedway park, he would be the youngest driver to ever take part in this race on this track. He also made history by competing and winning all three types of USAC (United States Automobile Club) races in one night, only one other driver in history had ever done it. In 2012 he made his debut by entering The World Truck Series at Kentucky Speedway.
2013 was the year that Kyle made his big break. After winning Rookie of the Year in various categories the 2 years previous he was proceeded to full time competing in the NASCAR national series where he raced in partnership with Tuner Scott Motorsports. He went on to win 2013 NASCAR K&N pro series champion of the east and triumphed again by receiving Rookie of the Year a third year running.
In 2014 Kyle earned Sunoco Rookie of the Year honours after winning the same award in the Xfinity Series the year before. Over the next six seasons Kyle would win 9 titles making his name a massive competitor in the NASCAR scene. He would go on to partner with Chip Ganassi racing, a powerhouse in the event.
However, Easter bank holiday 2020 would change everything for the promising star. It was during a virtual race that Kyle used a derogative term that would put a stop to his whole career. As Covid-19 was at its peak and most of society being urged to stay indoors an IRacing event was organised for Sunday 12th of April 2020. Kyle was racing in the virtual race when he lost communication with his spotter or so he though, he went on to use the racist slur broadcasting the word to the world. Kyle then went on to his social networks and admitted his faults and pleased with his community to forgive him although he understood what the repercussions from his actions could mean. Like clockwork, the following morning Chip Ganassi racing suspended the rising star without pay and NASCAR suspended him indefinitely as well as ordering him to attend sensitivity training. Tuesday 14th of April 2020 Chip Ganassi dealt the final blow by terminating his contract with the team which was supposed to run for another year.
This is a shocking event to Kyle’s successful career that no one could have predicted or wanted. Hopefully, in time and with the correct guidance he can return to doing what he loves the most and race again.
