Gena was born on 1963 (age 57) in California, daughter of Annette M. O’Kelley and Alan Gordon O’Kelley. She has three siblings, two sisters and a brother Elizabeth, Maureen, and Eric.
Since her early youth, she formed herself a career in the entertainment and fashion industry; she was discovered by a talent agent during her high school days and quickly launched herself to the modeling scene by doing a few commercial projects. Her model career didn’t have the expected success at first but it was enough to impulse her acting career. She started out playing minor roles in theatre, for then appearing on television and films.
One of her first TV projects was “Yes Dear” in 2003, starring Mike O’Malley, Jean Louisa Kelly and Anthony Clark. Later on, she appeared in the television program “Praise to the Lord” (shortened to “Praise”.) In 2009, she made a guest appearance in “Hannity”, a political talk show tackles events of the day with a bit of analysis.
Gena O’Kelley Marriage Details
Gena is currently married to the celebrated actor and martial arts expert, Chuck Norris. The two first met in the late 90s, curiously it was that Chuck was on a date with another woman and together they were watching Gena perform in a minor role at the local theater. Chuck became infatuated by her and asked his agent to set up a date with Gena. The two married on November 28, 1998 and have since welcomed opposite-sex twins, Dakota Alan Norris (the boy) and Danilee Kelly Norris (the girl) in August 30, 2001.
Previously to meeting Gena, Chuck was married to his high school girlfriend, Dianne Holechek. Their marriage lasted for over 30 years and they had two children, Mike and Eric Norris. He also has a child from an extramarital affair.
As for herself, Gena is also a divorcee. She was previously married to Gordon Hinschberger and had two children, Kelley and Tim, but not further information is known about her marriage with Gordon.
In 2008, Gena’s father Alan passed away, but even though it was due to natural causes it was a great blow for the overall family.
Gena O’Kelley Illnesses
Adding to the challenges the family has had to face, in 2013 Gena’s health took a turn for the worst after a routine MRI scan. After getting a standard injection for the scan’s process, Gena started feeling tremors and heat all over her body. The doctors were initially oblivious to what caused the symptoms, but Gena’s condition didn’t take long before worsening. She started feeling pain in her ribs, following by breathing troubles, muscles weakness and joint pain.
For making a proper diagnosis, she had to undergo plenty of tests for diseases such as cancer, Pakinson’s and more. The results became negative to all of the suspected illnesses but, investigating by herself, Gena found out her symptoms matched gadolinium toxicity. She finally attended a medical clinic in Reno, Nevada, where her suspicions were confirmed and she was officially diagnosed with this illness. Subsequently, she had to spend five months in bed, with an IV connected to her arm, and furthermore, she needed a hyperbaric chamber to help her healing. She has managed to recover significantly but there’s still a long way to go towards her full recovery.
Chuck and Gena have filed a lawsuit against 11 pharmaceutical companies and distributors for $10 million for the physical pain and financial loss they have endured. Her husband has left his filming career to devote full-time to his wife.
