Shaun Patrick Livingston was born in Peoria (Illinois) on September 11, 1985. When he was a child he excelled in sports, also because of his height (2.01 m), but his choice was basketball when he was ten years old. It was compared to the great Magic Johnson, not only on a physical level but also for the extreme ability to read the game a few seconds earlier than the opponents.

Then, many years later Shaun committed to Duke, but at the end decided to skip college and enter the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2004 NBA draft. He played basketball in high school at Richwoods High School for two years and then at Peoria Central High School. In 2004 he was named Illinois Mr. Basketball and he also played in the Mcdonald’s All-American Game and also he was listed as the number one point guard and number two player in the nation.
In 2007 Livingston recorded a career-high 14 assists against the Golden State Warriors and he was voted one of the 100 Legends of the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament for his performance. In the same year, in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats, he started to have a debilitating injury on his left knee. This required months of rehabilitation to be able to walk and play again. But Livingston never gave up and in 2008 came back after the contract with the Clippers was expired.
So the Minnesota Timber and Portland Trail Blazers were interested in him but he signed a deal with the Miami Heat in October. In March 2009 Shaun Livingston signed with the Tulsa 66ers who are in the NBA d-league with Oklahoma City Thunder.
In December of the same year he was waived by the Thunder. In February 2010, he signed a contract for the first two ten-day with the Washington Wizards, and then he signed for remain for all the season. In July 2010 signed a contract with the Charlotte Bobcats and after a year he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks as a part of a three-way deal, including the Sacramento Kings and Charlotte Bobcats. On the Christmas day of 2012 the Cleveland Cavaliers claimed Shaun Livingston off waivers.
In July 2014 Shaun signed with the Golden State Warriors and in August he was out because of a surgery in his big toe of his right foot. So he served as a key player on the bench in the 2015 NBA Championship, in time to the season opener. In the season 2015-2016 Livingston helped the Warriors win an NBA record set by the Chicago Bulls.
In July 2017 Shaun re-signed a contract with the Warriors for three years and a year later he played his fifth NBA finals. Unfortunately the Warriors lost against Toronto Raptors in six games. Two years later, on July 10, 2019 Livingston was waived by the Warriors and in September he decided to retire from the NBA and all his basketball career. He said he was happy and satisfied with his 15 years of Basketball.
