Tom Foreman is an American anchor, broadcast journalist, and reporter for CNN with more than thirty years of experience in reporting. Apart from CNN, he has worked as a reporter with many channels like WWL-TV, CBS, ABC, and National Geographic.

While he was in high school, Tom worked as a reporter for a local radio station in Alabama. After graduation, 1981 through 1990, Tom started his career as a local television anchor for the Alabama based channel WSFA, and the CBS-affiliated television station WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1990, after being signed up as a channel correspondent for ABC’s “ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings” and “Nightline”, Foreman moved to the network’s headquarters in Denver, Colorado. He hosted an episode of “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir” on April 15, 2000, before ending his stretch of 10 years with ABC in the same year.

In 2000, Foreman relocated to Washington and was signed up by the National Geographic. His first assignment was to cover news related to science and nature on a regular basis for the show, “National Geographic Today” (2000-2001). From 2001 to 2002, he independently hosted 40 episodes of the popular NatGeo show, “Inside Base Camp”, winning him the News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Interview in 2002. He held the chair of the managing director of “Inside Base Camp”.

Since 2004, Foreman started serving CNN. He hosted numerous CNN shows, “This Week in Politics” (2008), “Lou Dobbs Tonight” (2008), “Anderson Cooper Full Circle” (2018), “CNN Right Now with Brianna Keilar” (2019). His other shows included “Anderson Cooper 360°” (2013-2019), “The Situation Room” (2017-2019), “The Lead with Jake Tapper” (2013-2019), “CNN Tonight” (2016-2019). Foreman presently works from CNN’s Washington DC Bureau. He is presently a correspondent and anchor in several shows like “Erin Burnett OutFront” (since 2012), “CNN Newsroom” (since 2009), “At This Hour” (since 2017), and “New Day” (since 2019). He also hosts “Unconscious Bias: Facing the Realities of Racism”, the CNN TV special.
He travelled all the states in the U.S., and more than 20 countries worldwide covering natural disasters, political turmoil, economic tension, and social unrest. This included the Paris terror attacks, the effects of Hurricane Katrina, the sudden vanishing of the aircraft M370, Gulf oil spill, and the 2008 presidential elections.

In 2005, Foreman won a National Headliner Award for his article on an American soldier bringing back the Christmas spirit to a town in Luxembourg during World War II. In 2013, Foreman with his team was honoured with the inaugural Walter Cronkite/Brooks Jackson Award for political fact-checking. He assisted in creating a 3-D virtual studio for CNN.
Additionally, Foreman is a weekly columnist with a newspaper. He wrote more than 1460 letters to the former U.S. president, Barack Obama for four years on CNN.com.

He is the author of “My Year of Running Dangerously: A Dad, A Daughter, and A Ridiculous Plan” published by Blue Rider Press/Penguin Random House in October 2015. The book introduces him as a runner in three full marathons, a 55-mile race, and four half-marathons.
