Marc Summers was born Marc Berkowitz on the 11th of November 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born into a strict Jewish family and was one of three children. Mike his brother and Lori his sister.
At an early age Marc though his career aspirations where to become a Jewish Rabbi but after a discussion with his local Rabbi where he told him as a Rabbi you would help a few people a lot or as a performer you would help a lot of people a little, he decided performing is where his passion lay. He attended West Land middle school and then North Central high. Then in Boston, Massachusetts Marc went to Graham Junior college.
In the earlier years of his career Marc was a Disc Jockey for a local radio, he tried his hand at being a magician and performed as a stand-up comedian, but he wanted more. The break he was looking for came in 1986 when children’s network giant Nickelodeon hired him to host a family game show ‘Double dare.’

Double dare was shown on multiple networks within two years of its first episode airing. Fox Network even made a spin off ‘Fox family double dare’ in 1988. The show was a hit and Marc became a popular TV host in an instant. From 1991 to 1993 Marc hosted another children’s game show ‘What would you do?’ aired on Nickelodeon and in 1997. Marc became part of the main cast of ‘Our Home’ for two years.
In 1999 during an interview with Dr Hollander Marc professed he had a mental health issue that he and his family had been dealing with, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
‘Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental health condition where you have recurring thoughts and repetitive behaviours that you cannot control.’ Once he had revealed his condition Marc made a string of appearances on various networks to discuss the condition, what it was like living with it and how he and his family tried to manage the symptoms. He appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Today show to name a few.
Unwrapped, the TV show on The Food Network was aired in the summer of 2001 and this would see Marc tour around food factories in the US revealing how popular items were made in bulk and delivered to the shops they would be sold in. This show aired for a huge 9 seasons which included 308 episodes. The network confirmed there was going to be an Unwrapped 2.0 in 2015 but Marc was replaced as the host by Alfonso Ribeiro.
From 2002 until 2004 Marc was a producer on Ultimate revenge, wickedly perfect and Trivia Unwrapped. From 2007 until 2010 he was the executive producer for the Food Network’s Dinner: Impossible. Then Food Feuds and Restaurant: Impossible.
Marc is now the co-host on the Nickelodeon remake of Double dare with social media sensation Liza Koshy and the pair really do make the gameshow double trouble.

Marc has been happily married to his wife Alice Filous since 1974. He was 23 years old when he married Alice and she has supported him throughout his career and been a pillar of support while he battled with his mental health. The couple went on to have two children Meredith born October 21st, 1983 and son Matthew. Meredith went to take after her father in the showbiz industry while Matthew followed his father’s initial path and became a Rabbi.
