Brooke Nevils Sexual Misconduct Allegations Towards Matt Lauer
Nevils gave an exclusive interview to the writer/s of Catch and Kill where she gave details on the sexual misconduct by Matt Lauer. Matt Lauer was fired by NBC in 2017 due to sexual allegation against him but the name of the survivor was kept a secret back then. It was in the book Catch and Kill where it was revealed that it was Brooke Nevils who accused him back then.
In the books, Nevils have given horrific details about the incident. She has informed how a NBC team had gone to Sochi, Russia in 2014 to cover the Olympics. On one night, she went to Lauer’s hotel room to get her press credential from him and never thought anything could go wrong. Nevils stated that it never even crossed her mind that anything like that could happen. But, when she was in his room, he assaulted her. She said he pushed her into the bed, flipped her over and asked if she liked anal sex. She remembers how she refused him multiple times but he did not stop. Nevils further explained how it was excruciatingly painful and that she bled for days after it happened. She has clarified that she was too drunk to give consent and she did mention multiple times that she did not want anal sex.
In response, NBC issued a statement saying ‘Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific and reprehensible, as we said at that time. That is why we fired him within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break for our colleague’.
After this book was released, Lauer wrote an open letter claiming that the incident was consensual and allegations of rape were false but Nevils slammed him and said it was a classic case of victim blaming.
